At RT Energy, concern for Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) is of . Our Management policy is based upon a combination of experience in offshore exploration practices, coupled with use of modern technology. By the continuous search for optimum solutions, RT Energy will maintain and secure its position in the market place, by providing a cost effective, safe and healthy working environment.

RT Energy, with the process of constant review of in house operations and ongoing analysis and comparison with competitors and other similar companies, will seek to identify and implement the ‘Best Practises’ in every business undertaken. The company policy, integrated with effective use of company ‘Safety Management System’ (SMS) manuals will be adopted by all employees at all times within ROCHER TRIADE ENERGY.

The SMS is a system of continuous improvement which identifies risk to health and safety, sets clear objective and responsibilities for all managers and employees, plans for improvement and checks that we are meeting our aims and objectives.

The General Aim of our policy it to prevent incidents and /or conditions that may cause any of the following Challenges:

  • Personal injury or loss of life
  • Damage to health
  • Damage to the environment
  • Damage to the offshore vessel or third party properly

Safety Objectives of RT Energy:

  • Provision of  offshore services, and operate in accordance with the professional standards
  • Compliance with all relevant national and international Safety rules and regulations
  • Reduce risks by improving safety of the offshore vessel, onboard equipment, personnel, cargo and the environment and reducing the faults to a level which is as low as reasonably practicable
  • To promote a PRO SAFETY culture and mindset in the company

RT ENERGY NIGERIA LIMITED, in line with its corporate mission is committed to achieving the highest health, safety and environment standard throughout its business activities.

The company is also committed to the continual improvement of its HSE performance with the aim of reducing all its HSE risks to a level as low as reasonably practicable.

  • The company intends to fulfil this commitment based on the following objectives;
  • Considering health, safety and environment issues a priority in all company activities.
  • Compliance with National and international legislations and standards.
  • Safeguarding the health and safety of its employees and of those who may be affected by its operations through proactive identification of health and safety risks and implementation of suitable control measures.
  • Continual improvement of RT ENERGY LTD HSE management system and performance.

In order to attain these goals, the company top management assures the implementation of the HSE management system within all its work sites through provision of adequate and competent manpower, safe work procedures, effective communication, monitoring and auditing.
The company shall regularly revise and improve the contents of this policy and make same available in company premises and work areas.

Safety Meetings
At RT Energy, Safety meetings are an opportunity for management and the safety department to communicate to employees how they can do their jobs safer and better.  
The Primary Purposes of these safety meetings are:

  • To stimulate effective communication between staff and management
  • Monitor and promote safety awareness
  • Report unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Monitor effectiveness of accident prevention and abatement efforts.
  • Safety meetings are to have a structured form. They are to be oriented, relevant and shall encourage participation.

Safety Inspections / Audits
A few reasons why RT Energy conducts Safety Inspections include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifying the company risk and liability exposures
  • Avoid potential Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other regulatory violations in the event of a future OSHA inspection
  • Identify hazards and find cost effective solutions to correct them
  • Determine current safety program and training requirements strengths and/or weaknesses
  • Use as a basis for developing and implementing site specific safety plans
  • Pre-empt life threatening accidents by determining potential injury hazards

Work site safety shall be carried out in three main stages:

  • Before mobilization to the site
  • During the actual operation
  • Prior to demobilization
